Cupid's Arrow

Hope everyone is having another grand day today.  I created another Valentinesque card today, but decided in the final hours that adding heart grommets and a ribbon would make the perfect girly sign to hang in my (craft) walk-in closet. To create this card/sign I used products from my four favorite companies Art Glitter, Penny Black, SpellBinders & Copics.  As the old adage says, pictures speak louder than words.  Hope you enjoy.

I began my card with stamping Penny Black stamps' adorable kitty image, "Cupid At Work." and the lovely heart stamp, "Beau-Tied Heart". http://www.pbstamps.com   http://pennyblackinc.com

The lovely red cardstock is from Bazzill. I'm not sure which company made the red heart mulberry paper I used.

The white Die-Cut that is framing our lovely kitty is from SpellBinders called "Persian Motifs" http://www.ajscrapbookessentials.com/Persian_Motifs_p/s5-079.htm  I love the versatility of this die and have used it for many of my creations. But, I think the SpellBinders Die that I come back to time and time again is The Grand Labels Four.

Copics I used: http://www.dickblick.com/products/copic-sketch-markers YR21,YR23 & YR24 for the kitty's fur and the 0 Colorless Blender to keep his tummy white.
I used R32 for the kitty's nose and R22 for his cheeks.
I used R20, R21, R22, R24, R27, R29, R32, R35, R37 & R39 for the Hearts.

The ribbon I used for my sign is from The Heritage Ribbon Set by HOTP (Hot Off The Press) these and more lovely ribbons and scrapbook supplies can be found at PaperWishes.com http://www.paperwishes.com/products/5109100
Product Review: I finally learned how to use my crop-a-dile when I was at CHA this year.  It is a great tool.  I was able to punch holes through thick cardstock, and set the heart eyelets I used for this product very easily. Now that I know how to use it. I'm happy to say it won't be sitting on my shelf unused anymore.

Close up of the kitty and the luscious glitter.

I love that I can get very fine lines with Art Glitter's UltraFine Metal tip.  http://www.artglitter.com/retail/Radhesives.htm I used the Art Glittering Technique that in essence makes a rainbow with your glitter.  If you haven't seen it yet or even if you have, Barb Trombley, the creator of Art Glitter, has a wonderful video on youtube demonstrating this technique. It opens up a whole new avenue for creativity with Art Glitter. Here's the link to Barb's video.

I used Art Glitter's Designer Dries Clear as my adhesive. And the UltraFine Metal Tip.

FYI, after the glitter dries (usually I wait a few hours or until the next day) I use a used dryer sheet to burnish the glitter.  It removes any glitter that is not adhered to the adhesive and creates a very neat look.  I will be doing that tomorrow.

I used Art Glitter's Ultrafine Opaque in True Red for the hearts, the bow & quiver and the outside borders.

I used Art Glitter's Ultrafine Transparent in Melone for the hearts, and the bow & quiver.

I used Art Glitter's Ultrafine Transparent in Hot Kiss for the hearts, and the bow & quiver.

I

I used Art Glitter's MicroFine Transparent in Tangerine for the Heart Ruffle.

I used Art Glitter's MicroFine Transparent in Fair for another Heart Ruffle.

Thanks for stopping by.  If there is any technique that you would like to see more of, or you have questions about products. Please send me an email or reply to this post.  I'm happy to help.

Here's a sneak peek of the next blog post......I will be showing how to use Copics over your Art Glitter and how your Copic shading can be seen under Art Glitter.

Fantastic February

Fantastic February

Hope everyone is having a grand day today.  With Valentine's Day steadily approaching, I thought it would be fun to create a quick and easy project that can be easily modified to create other holiday projects throughout the year. You can create a whole new design by just changing the paper, glitter color, and  embellishments.

I used a new image which was just recently released at the 2013 Winter CHA from Penny Black Stamps by their designer Mo Manning.  Isn't she precious, the stamp is called, "Angel Among Us."
You can order her and more Penny Black stamps at http://www.pbstamps.com

I think this would be a great invitation for a Valentine's Day Tea Brunch, a coaster if laminated, a Mother's Day card, jewelry if resined, or a Valentine, but the possibilities are endless.

I colored the image with Copic Markers:
R0000, R000, R01, R02 for the face/hands
RV0000, RV21, RV23, RV25 dress
RV11, RV14, RV04 wings
RV23, RV25, RV29 flower
G0000, G00, G02 stem
E11, E13, E15 hair

You can order Copic markers at any fine establishment, but I get mine from Dick Blick Art Supplies  http://www.dickblick.com/products/copic-sketch-markers

The paper I used was a Metallic (Shimmer) Cardstock in shades Crystal & Azalea http://www.envelopes.com/cardstock/8-1-2-x-11-cardstock-azalea-metallic from Envelopes.com http://www.envelopes.com There are several different colors available.
I adore this paper because it is really versatile; it makes amazing cards and works great with embossing folders, die cuts.  However, I'm not sure if I like how it blends with my Copics (I'll let you be the judge) but it adds some great shimmer and works very well with my Art Glitter. http://www.ArtGlitter.com

I used the My Favorite Things Die-namics Large Rolled Rose Die for the the cute flower that I glued to the butterfly. I got mine at SimonSaysStamp http://www.simonsaysstamp.com/servlet/the-35109/large-big-rolled-rose/Detail

For adhesive I used Art Glitter's Designer Dries Clear.  Follow this link and you can purchase it directly from Art Glitter. http://www.artglitter.com/retail/Radhesives.htm This is the only glue that I will use as it works on everything.  It is acid free, non-toxic, permanent, and waterbased; if you have artwork you would like to keep around as heirloom pieces, or you are selling artwork professionally this is definitely the glue you should be using.  Art Glitter also has fabric, body tattoo, and several other great adhesives. I have personally used this glue on my boys' broken action figures; it works like a charm every time! This is my go to glue. I also love the Ultrafine metal tip with the stainless steel pin. http://www.artglitter.com/retail/rtools.htm  it allows you to get really detailed lines and puts the glue exactly where you want the glue & glitter to go.

Tip: do not use a sewing pin with this glue (speaking from personal experience) the stainless steel pins included with the tip do not rust, but sewing pins will.

Finally, to add that needed sparkle and complete the look, I used Art Glitter's Ultrafine Transparent in Hot Kisshttp://www.artglitter.com/retail/glitterpages/rutpink.htm

Product Review:

I'll let you in on a little secret, I'm a cost conscious crafter. I will go out of my way to do comparisons on product lines to see which product is the best for the least amount of money. I have personally compared most of the leading glitter companies based on quality, color lines, price point, coverage, ease of use, how the product stood up to an abrasion test, whether it lasted only a few days to a year or more, and the amount needed to get the best sparkle (waste) and have found Art Glitter to be superior in all areas of testing.

FYI:

FYI, did you know that Art Glitter has a glitter color that works well with every Copic marker color on the market.

Thanks for stopping by. Here's a sneak peek of another post coming soon.....
