The Red Violin

Hi, hope everyone is having a grand day today!  I had the distinct pleasure of attending the Red Violin performance at the Orpheum Theatre last night.  Elizabeth Pitcairn is beyond amazing, her bow work is flawless, and the "Red Violin" Stradivarius she plays brought tears to my eyes.  It is definitely the inspiration for today's card.

I started out by stamping Penny Black's gorgeous rubber stamp called, "Music Collage" onto Georgia Pacific cardstock.  You can find that image and more at www.PennyBlackInc.com or www.PBstamps.com

I colored the image with the Copic Markers below.

For the Sketch Markers since the picture is a bit shiny... I used YR30, Y13, YR14, YR18, E25, YR24, YR21, T9, T3, T7, T4, T1 in no particular order...

I then used my favorite SpellBinder's die.  Grand Nestabilities Labels Four with a light yellow cardstock and a Yellow/Gold Bazzill Cardstock.  The Ribbon is Offray.  Now for the fun part:)

I glued everything together with my go to glue Art Glitter's Designer Dries Clear.

This time however instead of using the Ultrafine Metal Tip for this part of the project I used one of Art Glitter's fantastic glue paintbrushes.  I don't believe they are listed on the website, so if you want them you will have to call Art Glitter at 928-639-0805 to request them.

I usually use Robert Simmons brushes, but have found that my paintbrushes don't handle the glue well like the Art Glitter glue brushes do.  They were specially formulated to work with the glue and they are wonderful!

I then used Art Glitter's Designer Dries Clear Adhesive & UltraFine Metal Tip to write the Calligraphy on the bottom of the image, the dots, and the piano keys.

I used Art Glitter's Ultrafine Opaque Glitter in Black for the dots, calligraphy & piano keys.

I used Art Glitter's Ultrafine Transparent Glitter in Halo for the rainbow effect on the labels four area.

I used Art Glitter's Ultrafine Transparent Glitter in Orange Crush for the rainbow effect on the Labels Four area and for the main image color.

I used Art Glitter's Ultrafine Transparent in Lemone for the ribbon edges and the rainbow effect in the Label Four area of the card.

I hope everyone likes the finished project as much as I do.  Thanks for stopping by!

An Old Irish Blessing

An Old Irish Blessing

May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And the rains fall soft upon your fields...
And, until we meet again,
May God hold you, in the hollow of His hand.

God's sweet creation of Ireland & shamrocks are the inspiration for today's card.

The stamp is by Stampworks (Peddler's Pack) called Shamrock Background.

I started off by selecting Emerald Metallic (shimmer) Cardstock from Envelopes.com

http://www.envelopes.com/cardstock/8-1-2-x-11-cardstock-emerald-metallic

Then I cut this out with SpellBinders Grand Calibur Rectangles from AJ's Scrapbooking. I also used a white Bazzill Cardstock.  It is the textured cardstock framing the shamrocks.

I used Art Glitter's Designer Dries Clear Adhesive with the UltraFine Metal Tip to glue the paper, glitter and embellies:)

Prior to glittering everything I used Copic Markers.

Sketch Markers I used.

Copic Ciao markers used.

Another shiny picture I thought this showed the shimmer of the metallic paper and the ribbon well.

This is how I cut the slots for the ribbon.

Another picture of the finished project.
I used Metallic Folk Art Paint in Metallic paint over the White Bazzill cardstock for the frame surrounding the shamrocks and I also used the paint on the gold part of the trim.

I love how this picture showcases the lovely Art Glitter. Take a look at the far right of the picture do you see two shamrock leaves not glittered? It is the second shamrock down. I wanted you to see the copic colors prior to glittering.  Now the opaque glitter will cover up the color of your copic coloring, but look at the transparent glitter and especially the shamrock on the bottom right hand corner and you can see how the copic colors come through. I posted the colors I used and links to buy in the pictures below.

The trim before I used it on the card.

Art Glitter Ultrafine Opaque in Emerald. I used this glitter on the outline of the Card Frame and on the shamrock leaves.

Art Glitter Ultrafine Opaque in Turquoise. I used this glitter on the shamrock leaves.

Art Glitter Ultrafine Transparent in Angel Dust. I used this glitter on the shamrock flowers. The last picture shows how the transparent glitter allows the Copic shading and color to shine through. Take a good look at the flowers.

I love glitter.  Be sure to check out a video on you tube by Art Glitter's creator, Barbara Trombley, for an awesome technique in Rainbow Glittering. I've added the link below.

Coloring over Art Glitter with Copics

Hope everyone is having a grand day.  As promised here are several pictures that show the results of coloring over your Art Glitter with Copic markers and letting the Copic markers shine through after you glitter.

I got this adorable stamp from Lili of the Valley LOTV.  It is called "Dropping the Shopping" and although in the Christmas/Winter theme this image could be so versatile.

I used Art Glitter Ultrafine Transparent in Angel Dust, which I used on the outline, on her ruff, on the tree, and in the center of the flower.

See how on the outline it looks clear, on her ruff it takes from the lavender Copics I used and on the tree the glitter has been colored over with various G-line Copic markers starting with G0000, G000, G00, G02.  I used the sketch tip of my Copic with the ultrafine glitter.

Tip: I wouldn't suggest using your Copics with other glitter though.  Art Glitter has very fine glitter which allows you to use your Copic without damaging the tip.  I used a scratch piece of paper to wipe between coloring.  The chisel tip works well too:)  The Art Glitter MicroFine in Winter White or Shell White would look amazing as well and with that I don't use a piece of scrap paper.

I also used Art Glitter UltraFine Opaque in Black for the "Tis the Season" phrase. The Art Glitter UltraFine Metal Tip paired with Art Glitter Designer Dries Clear Adhesive  is how I was able to create such detailed lettering.  http://www.artglitter.com/retail/glitterpages/ruoneu.htm

I used Art Glitter MicroFine in Fawn (on her steampunk wings) and then colored over the glitter when dry with Copic Marker E39 Leather.

You can get this awesome image at Crafts & Me.  It is a Hannah Lynn Digital stamp called Miss Mirabelle.

I used the Art Glitter MicroFine in Fawn in its true color on the Rings the girl is wearing.  So you can see the difference.
